Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County will observe the International Day of Prayer and Action for Habitat for Humanity on Sunday, September 19.  The community of Ellis County is invited to join in prayer at 1 pm at the current build site, 400 E. 17th Street, Hays.  Included at this time of prayer will be a house blessing for the recently occupied home at 402 E. 17 Street, Hays.

The International Day of Prayer and Action for Habitat for Humanity began in 1983 to make housing a matter of conscience.  It is a is a time when the entire Habitat for Humanity community is urged to come together in prayer for those in need of shelter.  The intent is to place in the minds and souls of people everywhere the idea that poverty housing is unacceptable.  The New Testament passage from 1 John 3:17 teaches us that we must respond to those in need: “I ask you, how can God’s love survive in a man who has enough of this world’s goods yet closes his heart to his brother when he sees him in need?”
